The Heat

The film was a success as it made a 82% profit increase. Bullock was paid $10 million for the role, as was McCarthy. Bullock has star power as she is a well known actress and has a following of older people, starring in roles such as gravity and Miss Congeniality. McCarthy is an comedic powerhouse that has a following of loyal watchers, starring in films such as bridesmaids and identity thief. The film was marketed and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film was marketed and a trailer was released on the 6th of November.  The film was nominated for Five American comedy awards for of which it won two with the best comedy actress being McCarthy and best comedy screenplay. It was nominated for three BFCAA award, It won a Peoples Choice Award, USA for favourite comedic movie, it won two Teen Choice Awards for Bullock being a choice movie star and Bullock and McCarthy having movie chemistry and It won a Women Film Critics Circle Award for best comedic actress.

Philomena is a drama film that is based on the true story of Philomena Lee (Judi Dench), the story of an Irish Catholic who's child was taken from her from the nunnery she lived in and her journey to find her son again. A journalist Martin Sixsmith (Steve Coogan) takes on her story and the two very different people create an interesting friendship.  The film makers invited the pope to a private screening of the film to which the pope declined not wanting to play into the marketing ploy of the film. The film stirred up trouble saying that it was not in agreement with catholicism. Philomena (the original) states that it is however, the convent the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary accused the film of showing one of their sisters in a negative light. The Film was nominated for four Oscars, Three golden globes, four BAFTA's which it won one for Best Adapted Screen Play.

Amy is a documentary based on the life of Amy Winehouse, the six time Grammy winner passed in July 2011 at the age of 27. This documentary is full of unseen clips and never before heard songs that tells the story of Amy in her own words. "Amy is a film about love"  This film has won an academy award for best feature documentary, was nominated for two bafta awards and won one for best documentary. It won an Alliance of Women Film Journalists for best documentary feature film.
